My sailboat

I got my sailboat out for the first time today.  It is a 1978 Snark Wildflower that I got for free from one of my wife's co-workers 2 years ago.  Two years I have had it sitting in my back yard, pissing my wife off, and I didn't register it until last week.  It was an hour and a half of amazing and agony.  I took my boy, Brayden, out on our maiden voyage.  It was brilliant and painful.  As I am not a sailor or boating regular, I was unprepared for the struggles of an unfamiliar lake and an unfamiliar boat.  The addition of a 9 year old boy, and 12 knot winds, who seemed more interested in the waves and water than helping me with the craft was less then gratifying.  While I am unhappy with the day's events, I am not discouraged from my dreams of sailing the South Pacific atolls of Fiji and eastward.  This was a small speed bump on the road to a high calling...  In the end it was a good day and well worth the effort and pain that was just happen stance.  Besides any day that you can take a two hour nap from shear exhaustion is a day well lived.
