Ash Wednesday 2012

It has been quite a while since I have utilizied my blog, in fact I had forgotten about it months ago.

Sailboat Update:  I was able to trade my little 12' Snark for a 16' Hobie Catamaran
    - I can't wait for spring. This will be able to haul the whole famly and 12 knot winds will be a joy, not a problem.

Anyway...   Today was my first Ash Wednesday church service.  I had decided to give up fast food for lent, but after going to the service and hearing what lent was suppose to be, I have decided to go a little further.  I have decided to fast during daylight hours to start and push into fasting longer on my days off and as much as possible on work days.  Since I have an active, physical job I will have to find a means of fuel.

The service was traditional, as I expected, but the reverend mentioned Buddha's eight fold path as a way of internal reflection during lent.  This caught me a little off guard.  I'll have to look into it.  Buddhism has always interested me, and I have thought about becoming Buddhist before.  I think I am as close to agnostic as a christian can be without becoming a universalist.  Maybe... Maybe...

Interesting that I named this blog "Endless thoughts of Myself" six months ago and now I am blogging about internal reflection.  Life can be funny.
